Why not read one of our gazettes to get a feel of what happens monthly at Wardside House

One of the attractions of Wardside House is that we lay on everything for you.

WARDSIDE HOUSE GAZETTE

July 2024

The Gazette is back!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to a few new members to our community. Mr & Mrs Harry Bryson, Mr Roy Lancaster and Mrs Helen McArthur. Welcome all!

Crafts Club

The craft club has been extremely busy this month featuring bird feeders, easter bonnets, paper bouquets and more.

Gala Scarecrow

This month the annual scarecrow competition for the Muthill Gala Week occurred – congratulations to everyone who worked on this! Our scarecrow can be seen at the top of the Wardside House driveway for anyone to enjoy.

Staff News

Dawn Ward our Head Cook decided to retire from the kitchen after 22 years with us – happy retirement!

Heather Campbell from the care team, after much soul searching, has decided to leave us to venture onto new things.

Rose Brown has left us through ill health, she has been a valued member for 15 years and we wish her well.

Sabian DuPlessis joined us in March as our new Head Chef! He comes full with fresh ideas, loves the challenge and enjoys the feedback he receives from us all.

The BBQs are being enjoyed (when the weather permits), as are the ice creams on those occasional warm afternoons! Cheryl Hawkins and Joanna Molendowska have joined our Care Team. Sky Russell has joined us whilst at college doing her student nurse training.

Other news

There has been a lot of continual staff training to ensure that our team are kept on top of all the latest techniques and requirements in our industry to ensure we are able to provide the best dedicated and attentive personal care. We also have two members of staff studying for their SVQ 3 in Social Care and three others studying for their SVQ 2. We received an unannounced inspection by the Care Commission – we have not yet received a written report, but the verbal feedback during our meeting with them was extremely positive.

Cups of Tea and Biscuits

By staff member, Jackie Hird

With a cup of tea and biscuits,
we hand out love and care,
not just to these our residents
but everyone that’s there.

It’s a homely family feeling,
we support and help each other,
listening to your stories
valuing the experience of another.

We don’t dismiss your feelings,
we validate who you are,
knowing its hard to be separated
from your loved ones near or far.

So when you come to Wardside,
you’ll get a welcome hand,
value what you bring and work
with you to understand.

Flowers for Summer

Marjorie and Margaret have planted in the planter boxes on the front wall – the flower display is starting to blossom in a riot of colour!
