Its a boy!
It gives me great pleasure to announce that staff member, Roslyn Deacon, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on the 12th of November weighing 9.9lb. Both mother and baby Harris are doing well and we would all like to wish them all the joy and happiness in the world.
Birthdays: Congratulations and many happy returns of the day are wished to Ruth Hunter on her 90th birthday.
Cook’s Meetings held at 10-30 am each Wednesday, continues to be very well attended. The proposed menu for the forthcoming week is explained in detail by one of the cooks on duty. Residents are given the opportunity to praise or complain about anything on the previous week’s menu and, if necessary, the cook takes note. But the meals they produce each day are varied and excellent with every effort made to satisfy individual tastes.
Staff News: all members of staff have now completed their moving and handling and adult support and protection this month.
Craft Classes are held on Monday and Thursday mornings at 11am in the Garden Room and provide an opportunity for residents to make something, which could be either useful or just decorative. Susie, the leader, has always something that is simple to make considering our age group. I am sure there will be a Christmas theme this month.
Quiz Nights: are held each Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Garden Room. Susie who leads the quiz has a host of questions which are most interesting and generally known when revealed. If anyone is hesitant to attend, the questions are not addressed to an individual. They are addressed to the whole class for anyone to answer if they know it.
Exercise Classes are still continuing to be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Large Lounge starting at 4pm until 5pm to give all residents the opportunity to loosen up and keep the muscles in good working order.
Up coming events for December:
During December we have various Christmas events arranged such as
Gargunnock songsters concert 1st December
Music in hospital concert 2.30pm 11th December
Visit from Muthill primary school 11am 17th December
Dunblane cathedral choir 6.30pm 19th December
Children’s Christmas party 2pm 23rd December
All are welcome to attend
Last month we were very fortunate to have a visit from the Blackford fiddlers. It was greatly enjoyed by all that attended and hopefully we can arrange another time for them to visit soon.
As we all know Audrey Insch sadly passed in October. A memorial service was held in her honor on the 13th of November conducted by Rev. Tracy Dowling. It was a lovely service filled with many stories of Audrey’s life and her accomplishments and was a pleasure to learn of them. She was a delight to know and she is missed by us all.
The weather.
“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
— John Steinbeck
Editor’s Personal Note: I personally would like to thank Andrew Hodge for his dedicated service to the gazette over the last ten years. What a wonderful job he has done in informing residents and staff of the goings on and entertaining us with his vast knowledge of poetry. I am honored he has entrusted me to carry on the gazette and will try to do it the justice he has over the years.
